Music Genres!

I main music genres are Hip Hop/Rap, Pop and R&B/Soul because in the charts at the moment there are mainly songs including artists like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Enrique Inglesias.

 

 According to this research music styles are supposed to reflect on personality traits. I agree with content within the Rap genre because you would have high self-esteem and would be outgoing and if you listened to Chart Pop you would be not creative but hardworking and outgoing, gentle and not at ease, the reason I agree is because I listen to these. The one that most describes me would have to be Soul however it says I should have high self-esteem, I'm creative, outgoing, gentle and I'm always at ease but I am creative, outgoing, gentle and always at ease but I have low self-esteem.

According to this study in 2004, teenagers are supposedly to be attracted to certain social groups according to their tastes in music, fashion sense etc. According to the study pop princesses wear pink, silver and baby blue, as you can see Britney Spears is a pop princess as she is wearing a light pink and dark pink top which is floral too, so it makes it extra girly also as you can see Atomic Kitten are pop princesses because they wear pink/red, blue and silver also they both sing upbeat, pop music as that is the whole point.

Indie Kids are supposed to wear seventies clothes from charity shops and are supposed to have straight/floppy hair, which is the cheap just got out of bed look however as you can see Imagine Dragons are nothing like that they look like they have took time getting dressed apart from the one on the left as he looks like he hasn't brushed his hair, however as you can see the band Edward Sharpe and The Magnificent Zeros look very indie, they don't necessarily look like they are wearing seventies clothes but they look like they haven't spent much time getting ready also they all have  looking hair.

A sub-genre is a sub-division of a genre in music, literature or film but in this case its music for example R&B can categorised into Contemporary R&B, Smooth Jazz and Neo Soul. A niche market is a market in which a limited and clearly defined range of products is sold to a specific group of customers, for example, sports channels like STAR Sports, ESPN, STAR Cricket, and Fox Sports target a niche of sports enthusiasts which is mostly aimed at middle aged men.
